New Customers to Sage Payment Solutions

The set up process will vary depending on whether you are applying for our Payment Gateway or Merchant Account service.

  • To accept payments from within Sage 50 Accounts the first thing you will need to do is upgrade to Sage 50 Accounts 2008.

  • Next you will need to apply for a Sage Payment Solutions account by completing our online application form. The application form will ask whether or not you are applying for our Merchant Account service.

  • On submission of your application form we will set you up with a Sage Payment Solutions account and email you your unique account details.

If you are applying for our Payment Gateway service you should hear from us within 48 hours.

If you are applying for our Merchant Account service the set up process will take approximately 2 weeks.

  • Once you have received confirmation that your Sage Payment Solutions account is set up you can activate Sage Payment Solutions from within Sage 50 Accounts.

Existing Protx Customers

If you are an existing Protx customer, you can sign up to take payments through Sage 50 Accounts at no extra charge.

Protx is the technology partner behind Sage Payment Solutions.

In order to take payments over the telephone from within Sage 50 Accounts you must have a Mail Order Telephone Order (MOTO) merchant account.

If you do not already have a MOTO merchant number you can apply now for an RBS MOTO merchant account through Sage Merchant Services

Alternatively, you can set up a MOTO merchant account with one of the merchant banks that we work with.

Once you have your merchant number, you can add the facility to take payments from within Sage 50 Accounts by taking the following steps:

  • Upgrade to Sage 50 Accounts 2008

  • Email support@protx.com with your MOTO merchant number and ask them to enable Sage 50 Accounts payments from within your Protx account. If you already have a MOTO merchant account you will still need to email support@protx.com to ask them to add this payment facility. You will receive an email from support once this has been done.

  • Enable Sage Payment Solutions from within Sage 50 Accounts. This will allow you to activate and test your account.
